$1 Million Community Benefit Fund
If the energy infrastructure project moves forward, Clearway will create a $1 million Community Benefit Fund at the start of construction that would be managed locally for public use.
New Tax Payments
The proposed project would pay hundreds of thousands annually in tax-related payments to Garrard County over the project’s 30-year lifetime, while requiring no county services during operations.
Supporting Private Property Rights
The project would only be sited on private land leased by willing landowners who are making decisions about how they use their property.
Regulations & Permitting
Protecting Garrard County
Garrard County's solar ordinance would remain in place with a minor amendment specific to this project only. Amending the county’s solar ordinance to “grandfather” a development that pre-dates Garrard County’s solar ordinance will maintain strong protections on setbacks, screening, decommissioning and other topics.
The project would also still need to obtain local, state, and federal permits before it can begin construction. The permitting process, which will take place over the next one and a half years, will ensure responsible siting, safety, and public input.
